The Bloom Organization announces its client, Digestive Healthcare Center of Huntington, Inc. (DHCH), and an associated anesthesia practice have been acquired by Northwell Health. Northwell Health purchased a majority interest in DHCH in a transaction that closed in March 2017 and purchased full ownership of DHCH’s associated anesthesia practice, Huntington Bay Medical Associates, Inc., in a transaction that closed in January 2017.
DHCH, located in Huntington, N.Y., on Long Island, opened in 2002. At the time of the acquisition, the freestanding gastroenterology (GI) ambulatory surgery center had six physician owners and 11 physician utilizers. They serve approximately 5,000 patients annually, performing colon and rectal cancer screenings and other GI procedures in one operating room and one procedure room.
Northwell Health, headquartered in Great Neck, N.Y., on Long Island, is the largest healthcare provider and private employer in New York state. The healthcare network includes 21 hospitals and more than 550 outpatient facilities. It serves more than 2 million people annually in the metro New York area and beyond.
“Over the past 15 years, under the expert supervision of Drs. Paul Bermanski and Richard Fried, DHCH has developed a reputation for delivering the highest quality endoscopy services to its patient community,” says Robert Goettling. “This standing and the center’s impressive history were undoubtedly key factors in attracting Northwell Health, a robust network of facilities and clinicians that help improve the health and lives of millions of people on and around Long Island.”
